Phew, I don’t know when I last laughed so much. From the very beginning, I felt at home with Allan. He introduced me to his neighborhood and his culture, and I got to know his family and friends. Allan showed me how to get coconuts and how to use them. He also has the coolest garden right by the sea, where the most delicious water apples grow.

I really appreciate Allan and his authentic, direct, and honest manner, and I’m grateful for the time I was able to spend with him in El Progreso. I’d always do it again.

I had an amazing experience staying with Allan in Drake Bay. During my stay I was welcomed like family – not only by Allan, but also by his friends, family and everyone in the neighbourhood. I appreciated how genuinely interested everyone was in connecting and learning.

Allan is generous, laid-back and provided information on how to get to Drake Bay and then after my stay to my next destination.

We shared delicious meals, made coconut oil which I was able to take along on my further travels.

Furthermore I had a comfortable room to rest in.

Staying with Allán and his family was an unforgettable experience. I truly felt like I became part of a Costa Rican family , so warm and welcoming. Allán is a wonderful person with a big heart, and I really enjoyed our conversations. Through him, I got to experience Drake Bay in a very special and authentic way.

We shared great moments : making coconut oil together, exploring the area, playing football, and exchanging our languages: Spanish, English, and German. I tried local food and learned a lot from him: about the culture, different plants, and animals. It was really interesting.

I felt very comfortable and well cared for the entire time. Thank you, Allán, for your kindness, for sharing your world with me, and for making me feel at home. I’m deeply grateful for everything.
